Arranging Director

The Arranging Director is responsible for handling the final disposition arrangements of the deceased in a professional, caring manner consistent with the wishes of the family, the standards of Cedar Memorial and related legal requirements. The Arranging Director will provide sensitive, effective personal intervention to bereaved family members and friends of the deceased. The director will effectively coordinate the work of other funeral home staff in carrying out these arrangements in a manner that exceeds the expectations of the families served. Requirements include evidence of graduation from a fully accredited College of Mortuary Science and previous successful experience as a first call director and/or assistant arranging director. Two or more years of full time experience as a licensed funeral director is preferred. Must be licensed or license eligible in the State of Iowa.

First Call Director

The First Call Director is responsible for removal of the deceased from the place of death to the funeral home location that a family desires; and is then responsible for the preparation of the remains for visitation/funeral services and for final disposition of the body. This preparation could be by preparing the body for traditional viewing and service or by overseeing a cremation and processing the cremated remains for final disposition. These services are performed with sensitivity to the wishes of the family, in conformity with the professional standards of the funeral home profession, and in conformity with related public health and sanitation laws of the state of Iowa. The First Call Director will work cooperatively with arranging directors and other funeral home staff in carrying out these arrangements in a manner that exceeds the expectations of the families served.

Family Service Counselor

The Family Service Counselor is responsible for providing empathetic cemetery services to bereaved family members and friends of the deceased and for follow-up on all funerals and burials so that positive rapport is established and pre-need leads and sales occur. Family Service Counselors serve as ambassadors of the cemetery to our community and effectively handle a variety of service and product sales functions in a timely, accurate and caring manner. They also need to be knowledgeable about the various services and memorial products available, including related costs and payment options.

Funeral Assistant

Provides assistance to Arranging Directors, First Call Directors and our families. Duties include assisting with removal services, directing traffic for parking, working funeral services, opening doors for guests, preparing company vehicles for use and assisting with casket and flower placement.

Host/Hostess

These are part time positions assisting with visitations at our funeral homes and receptions at our Family Center. Duties include greeting guests, answering phone, answering questions, organizing flowers and caring for family. Includes some evening and weekend hours.

Receptionist

Provides a variety of receptionist and clerical functions for business operations including answering all incoming phone calls.

Administrative Assistant

Provides a variety of clerical functions for business operations including: Set-up, design and personalize service books and folders. Input, update and maintain On-line obits. Assist Arranging Directors and answer phone calls for directors as needed. Submit and confirm obituary notices and charges. Provide back up for funeral home front desk receptionist when needed. Inform the evening answering service of new (deceased) calls. Provide assistance to other office staff as needed.

Accounting Specialist

Provides a variety of accounting functions for both the funeral home and cemetery business operations including: accounts payable, coordination of follow up and collections on accounts receivable, development and maintenance of a purchase order system, general ledger analysis and exceptions identification and assistance to the Director of Business Services and other office staff as needed.

Floral Designer

Assists in designing and preparing floral arrangements for events such as weddings, funerals, anniversaries, dances and other special occasions and provides related customer service and shop support duties. This position includes meeting with funeral home families as well as cemetery visitors.

Grounds Maintenance

This position is responsible for the preparation of burial sites prior to interment and landscaping these sites following interment in accordance with established standards as directed. This position is also responsible for other cemetery grounds maintenance duties such as mowing and trimming as well as assisting with setting up and taking down seasonal displays.

Housekeeping

Assists with general cleaning of facility.
